September 2026 - Back To School!
News from the Town Office
Town Office will be closed on September 7, 2026 for the Labour Day weekend.
We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday!
Transfer Station & Yard Clean Up — September hours are Saturdays 9am - 5pm
& Tuesdays 10am - 5pm. Organic yard waste is free of charge for residents (with $3 gate fee).
Can people walk the sidewalk in front of your home, or is it covered by your
trees and shrubs? - We note that many people have made the effort to cut back their trees
and hedges, but there are still places where walking the sidewalk is difficult. Please take care
of this problem before winter comes. Front hedges are to be no more than a meter high.
Parking — There is a Bylaw that regulates ALL vehicles to be moved every 72 hours. We
ask that you move vehicles and trailers regularly. The Town can tow these vehicles if they are
not moved.
Do you use wipes for personal care? —Wipes in the pipes are not good for our sanitary
sewer system, even if they do say flushable. They do not dissolve enough before getting to
our pumps. To prevent back ups - in your home or the town - please toss them into the trash.
Note from Public Works regarding Pot Holes
“Why did it take so long to get to the pot holes this year?”
It takes more than 2 people to do the job properly. This is why we have always waited until
we have our summer students in July. This year was going to be a bit later than usual because
of being behind on the grass cutting (due to weather and being suddenly short staffed), and
then not being able to get a straight answer from last year’s supplier on the TAC oil that is
used to adhere the cold mix to the ground. First, he said not until early August, then when we
called in early August he said he would call back the next day, but never did, even after
several attempts to reach him. So the next step was to contact other suppliers - that we were
originally told didn’t sell less than 1000L totes at one time. We were then able to find a sales
guy and secure the required product at a smaller amount as long as we brought our own tote.
We picked up the product on August 17th and the pot hole repair was completed.
