The Town of Allan’s Before & After-School Program provides a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children before and after the regular school day.
The program is designed to support local families by providing reliable care while giving children opportunities to learn, play, stay active, build friendships, and develop new skills.
Program Details
Program Season: September to June
Days: Monday to Friday, on regular school days
Before School: 7:00 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.
After School: 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Location: Allan Composite School
Ages: Children 3–12 years of age

Before School
The morning program provides children with a calm and positive start to their day.
Activities may include:

Arrival and check-in

Breakfast and social time

Reading and quiet activities

Light physical activity

A supported transition to the school day
The goal is to help children begin their school day feeling comfortable, prepared, and ready to learn.
After School
The after-school program begins after the regular school day and runs until 6:30 p.m.
Children may participate in:

STEM and hands-on activities

Outdoor or indoor physical activities

Group games and team-building

Social and emotional learning activities

Free-choice activities and supervised play
Activities will vary throughout the week to provide children with a balance of learning, creativity, physical activity, and social interaction.
Community Activities
Most activities will take place at Allan Composite School. Where appropriate, the program may also use community facilities and outdoor spaces for special activities and themed programming, including:

Activities for Different Ages
Activities will be adapted to suit children's ages and developmental needs.
Ages 3–5
Younger children may participate in:

Ages 6–12

Healthy Snacks
Healthy snacks will be provided during the before- and after-school program. The program will take children's allergies and dietary needs into consideration. Nuts and sesame will not be included in program snacks.
Families should provide staff with information about any allergies or dietary requirements during registration.

The safety and well-being of children is our top priority.
The program includes:

Children will be supervised during activities, transitions, indoor and outdoor play, and community-based activities.
Communication with Families
Communication with parents and guardians is an important part of the program.

Any incidents or concerns involving their child
Parents and guardians are encouraged to share questions, concerns, or suggestions with program staff.
A Positive Place to Learn, Play & Grow
The Allan Before & After-School Program is designed to give children a safe and positive place to spend time outside of regular school hours.
Through learning, creativity, physical activity, and social connection, the program provides children with opportunities to learn, play, build friendships, and grow in a supportive community environment.
