News from the Town Office
Spring is in the air—that means we have: Speeders—with the onset of spring, we find that some people start speeding around town, causing risks and vehicles stunting. Our only hope of dealing with this is to call the RCMP—310-RCMP(7267). With enough complaints, they will make traffic in Allan a priority.
Transfer Station Rates — Council is reviewing the rates that are being charged at the transfer station
and looking to implement some changes. This will be a flat rate charge for all items, as opposed to the
sizing charge that it currently is at. This is not yet in place. Look for updates around the community on
the new rates. This is still in the works.
Home Based Businesses—If you have or plan to operate a home-based business, you need a
Development Permit from the Town of Allan to operate a business according to our Zoning Bylaw. It
takes a couple of months, but is not costly; $25.00 for the application, including advertising and $20.00 for your business license on a yearly renewal. We look forward to hearing from our local at-home businesses.
Building Information — If you are altering your home/garage, there may be permits required.
Building Permits are required for most work done on your home now as of 2022. Please call the office if
you have any questions. This even includes if you are changing your windows and door for new upgrades.
Water & Sewer — Council will be looking at a water rate increase, due to SaskWater increasing their
rates again this year.
Animal Control—Remember, all dogs and cats are to be leashed, and under control when not contained
in your yard. Also, you must clean up after your pet. Bylaw enforcement deals with written complaints on
a monthly basis.
