April 2022 - Spring is here!

News from the Town Office Spring is in the air—that means we have: Speeders—with the onset of spring, we find that some people start speeding around town, causing risks and vehicles stunting. Our only hope of dealing with this is to call the RCMP. 310-RCMP(7267). With enough complaints, they will make traffic in Allan a priority. Spring Cleaning—Mark your Calendars for April 23rd. From 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., it is No Gate Fee day. Allan Residents will not pay gate fees at the Transfer Station. Charges will apply to anything going into the Loraas Bin or metals pile. The Council will be working to ensure properties are cleaned up this year in Allan. It’s a good time to get the branches and yard waste cleaned up. Spring Thaw—The thaw could be difficult this year with so many layers of snow and ice, but going fairly well so far. Please take your vehicles, trailers, boats are off the streets so that slush may be cleared if necessary. If you are noticing water backing up in the storm system, please give the Town Office a call. We will notify the public works department. Home Based Businesses—If you have or plan to operate a home based business, you need a Development Permit from the Town of Allan to operate a business according to our Zoning Bylaw. It takes a couple of months, but, is not costly, $20.00 for the application including advertising and $20.00 for your business license on a yearly renewal . We look forward to hearing from our local at home businesses. Now is a good time as Council isn’t enforcing this at present, we want to catch up with anyone who’s been missed. Please take advantage of this to get your home based business in compliance with the Zoning Bylaw. COVID Rapid Test Kits are still available for pick up at the Town Office. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Be Kind
