Spring is in the air—that means we have:
Speeders—with the onset of spring, we find that some people start speeding around town, causing risks
and vehicles stunting. Our only hope of dealing with this is to call the RCMP—310-RCMP(7267). With
enough complaints, they will make traffic in Allan a priority.
Spring Cleaning—Mark your Calendars for April 26th. From 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., it is No Gate Fee
day. Allan Residents will not pay gate fees at the Transfer Station. Charges will apply to anything going
into the Loraas Bin or metals pile. It’s a good time to get the branches and yard waste cleaned up.
Transfer Station Rates — Council is reviewing the rates that are being charged at the transfer station
and looking to implement some changes. This will be a flat rate charge for all items, as opposed to the
sizing charge that it currently is at. This is not yet in place. Look for updates around the community on
the new rates!
Spring Thaw—The thaw could be difficult this year with so many layers of snow and ice, but it’s going
fairly well so far. Please take your vehicles, trailers, and boats off the streets so that slush may be cleared if
necessary. If you are noticing water backing up in the storm system, please give the Town Office a call.
We will notify the public works department.
Home Based Businesses—If you have or plan to operate a home based business, you need a
Development Permit from the Town of Allan to operate a business according to our Zoning Bylaw. It
takes a couple of months, but is not costly; $25.00 for the application including advertising and $20.00 for your business license on a yearly renewal . We look forward to hearing from our local at-home businesses.
Building Information — If you are altering your home/garage, there may be permits required. Please
ensure that you get your permit in advance of starting your project.
Water & Sewer — Council will be looking at a water rate increase, due to SaskWater increasing their
rates again this year.
